ERE's Geothermal Program students Yuran Zhang and Timothy Manley have been awarded the GRC Best Presentation Award at the 2015 GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo in Reno, Nevada. This award is in recognition of quality of content and presentation at the Reservoir Engineering/Modeling 2 session. Yuran Zhang presented "DNA-Encapsulated Silica Nanoparticle Tracers for Fracture Characterization".

Awards are given out each year to ERE Students in three categories. The Henry J. Ramey, Jr. Fellowship Award recognizes the most prominent research student in the department. Frank G. Miller Fellowship Award recognizes the top student each quarter in course performance. It is awarded three times each year to a student selected on grade performance and research productivity from the preceding quarter. The William H. Brigham Memorial Award recognizes a student, or a staff member, who contributes their time generously to improve the lives of others. It is an award for department citizenship.

Prof. Adam Brandt is co-author of the Global Oil-Climate Index that allows comparison of climate impacts associated with a broad range of oil resources such as heavy oils, oil sands and tight oil. Brandt collaborated with colleagues from the Carnegie Endowment's Energy and Climate Program and the University of Calgary to develop the first-of-its-kind index.
