Jim Leckie

Professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering

Prof. Leckie has been on the Stanford Environmental Engineering faculty since 1970 and is an environmental chemist interested in the application of chemical principles to the study of pollutants behavior in natural aquatic systems and in engineered processes. His research contributions have been extensive in the areas of adsorption chemistry, human exposure analysis, and membrane science.

Matt Harvey

Associate Director, Stanford Tecnology Ventures Program

Matt Harvey is the Associate Director for the Stanford Technology Ventures Program, the entrepreneurship center in Stanford University’s School of Engineering. 

Prior to joining Stanford, Matt worked as a writer and content developer for Silicon Valley firms, including HP and SonicWALL. He also has experience as a script and story analyst for the film production companies Phoenix Pictures and FilmRites, partners of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Mark Hartney

Director, Office of Strategic Planning at SLAC

Dr. Mark Hartney is the director of the Office of Strategic Planning at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.  Mark is responsible for expanding the engagement of SLAC with industry partners, government agencies and Stanford University with an emphasis on renewable energy and materials.

Louis Durlofsky

Professor, Department of Energy Resources Engineering

Lou Durlofsky's research focuses mainly on the development of computational modeling and optimization techniques for subsurface flow processes. His specific research areas include general flow simulation, computational upscaling, or the development of flow models from detailed geological descriptions, reduced-order modeling, data assimilation, and energy system optimization.

Jeremy Carl

Research Fellow, Hoover Institute

Jeremy Carl is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution whose work focuses on energy and environmental policy, with particular emphasis on energy security, climate policy, and global fossil fuel markets. In addition, he writes extensively on US-India relations and Indian politics.

Before coming to Stanford, he was a  research fellow in resource and development economics at the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India’s leading energy and environmental policy organization.

Tralance Addy

Executive Director, SEED

Tralance Addy is the Executive Director of Stanford's Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED).  He founded and has served as chief executive of Plebys International LLC, a California-based enterprise development company targeting underserved markets worldwide.

William Perry

Professor (emeritus), Management Science and Engineering; Director of Preventive Defense Project, CISAC; Senior Fellow, Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies

William Perry is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies. He is the Michael and Barbara Berberian Professor at Stanford University and serves as director of the Preventive Defense Project. He is an expert in US foreign policy, national security, and arms control. Perry was the nineteenth secretary of defense for the United States, serving from February 1994 to January 1997.

JB Straubel

Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Tesla Motors, Inc.

As one of the co-founders and the chief technical officer of Tesla Motors (TSLA), JB is today responsible for all software, electronics and propulsion across Tesla’s portfolio with direct operational responsibility for roughly one-fourth of the company. This includes all aspects of powertrain R&D, engineering and production.

Dan Arvizu

Director and Chief Executive, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)

Dr. Dan Arvizu is the Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Energy's primary laboratory for energy efficiency and renewable energy research and development.  He was a chief technology officer with CH2M HILL Companies, Ltd., an executive with Sandia National Laboratories, and started his career at the AT&T Bell Telephone Laboratories.  In 2011, Dr.

Charles Kolstad

Senior Fellow, Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research; Senior Fellow, Precourt Institute for Energy

Prof. Charles D. Kolstad is a senior fellow in the Precourt Institute and the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR).  He is also a courtesy professor in the Department of Economics.  He is an internationally known economist who once served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana and has taught at universities in the U.S, Russia, and Belgium.
