A Magic Grant supports a small team of graduate students or postgraduates who are expected to demonstrate the relevance and viability of their ideas by implementing a prototype or creating an innovative media product. Successful projects might continue as business ventures outside the universities.

The Department of Energy (DOE) Scholars program introduces undergraduates or recent graduates to the mission of the DOE.

International School for Materials for Energy and Sustainability IV (ISMES IV)

For graduate and postdoctoral students with a strong interest in the interrelationships between energy, resources, and a sustainability society.  ISMES will incorporate lectures by some of the most recognized academic and industrial experts to present the state-of-the-art and the future perspectives for materials and their application to energy generation and storage for sustainable energy technologies. 

Lorry I. Lokey/Stanford University Fellowship

The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), through the Lorry I. Lokey/Stanford University Fellowship will support one Stanford graduate or recent graduate for EDF programs in Oceans; Land, Water & Wildlife; Climate – Domestic and International; or Environmental Health.

Schneider Fellows (formerly MAP Sustainable Energy Fellowships)

The Schneider Fellows program (formerly the MAP Sustainable Energy Fellowships) provides Stanford students with opportunities to work at leading U.S. non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the sustainable energy field. The Schneider Fellows spend a quarter tackling the world’s economic, environmental, social, and technical challenges associated with past, present, and future approaches of harnessing energy resources to deliver energy services.

Stanford Energy Internships in California (SEIC)

Stanford Energy Internships in California (SEIC) will offer a suite of energy-related, fully funded, public service internships for students within governmental organizations in California during the summer. For the summer of 2016, SEIC has secured three graduate-level internship opportunities within the California ISO (CAISO), California Department of Water Resources (DWR), and the California Energy Commission (CEC).

The Sustainable Stanford Internship Program provides a paid opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience implementing programs that influence on-campus sustainability. Each intern will commit to a summer or academic year-long program working to manage a campus sustainability project and bring about tangible results.

TomKat Center energyStartup Summer Internships

The TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy has two internship programs. The objectives of the summer internships are for students to gain work experience, develop applied engineering knowledge, learn entrepreneurship in a start-up environment, and build upon their academic studies.
