Undergraduate Ethics

Overview

Program in Ethics in Society

The Program in Ethics in Society devotes itself to undergraduate education and offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of ethics. We offer courses ranging from Philosophy, Public Policy, Drama, to Political Science. Many of the classes will satisfy GER and new Ways of Thinking/Ways of Doing (Ethical Reasoning) breadth requirement.

The Program also offers students an opportunity to write a senior honors thesis that extends moral concerns and reflection across a variety of disciplines. Students combine the analytical rigor of moral and political philosophy with their self-chosen thesis topic to develop a sophisticated understanding of problems of social concern. We encourage students to consider questions such as the meaning of responsibility, the scope of liberty, the legitimacy of government, and other issues that arise in debates about public life.
