She received a Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art from University of California, Davis. She currently teaches in the Department of Art and Art History at Stanford University.

For her fellowship, Berlier will make a series of time-based devices (sculptures and installations) that explore gender issues around the Clayman Institute’s theme, “Beyond the Stalled Revolution.” Berlier will explore this theme by using the metaphors of time/speed and incorporating her exploration of time-based mediums (kinetics, sound, video and interaction). The central concepts of Berlier’s work include the environment, place, everyday objects and queer practice. Sculptural possibilities and research include a series of clock mechanisms where time, place, history and culture would be metaphorically depicted through visual devices conveying barriers, breakthroughs, setbacks and advancements in gender equality. Further information about Professor Berlier is available from her website.
