Responses to the School of Engineering

To accept the offer of financial aid (such as graduate scholarship, fellowship, traineeship, or assistantship), follow the instructions sent to you by the department that extended the offer of aid. To request information on the department’s process for accepting the offer of aid, please contact the department. See this list of department contacts.

If you received an offer of aid, your acceptance of the offer of admission will also be considered as your acceptance of the offer of aid unless you send separate notification to the department to advise them that you are declining the offer of aid.

Acceptance of an offer of financial aid for the next academic year by an actual or prospective graduate student creates an agreement which both student and graduate school are expected to honor. In those instances in which the student accepts the offer before April 15 and subsequently desires to withdraw, the student may submit a resignation of the appointment in writing at any time through April 15. An acceptance of the offer given or left in force after April 15, however, commits the student not to accept another offer without first obtaining written release from the institution to which a commitment has been made. Similarly, an offer by an institution after April 15 is conditional upon presentation by the student of the written release from any previously accepted offer. See Decisions on Awards for further information on this policy.
