Bio

Patricia Sinnott is a health economist with the VA Health Economics Resource Center (HERC) in Menlo Park, and a CHP/PCOR associate. She is also an assistant clinical professor in the University of California-San Francisco/San Francisco State University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy, where she teaches the health policy and evidence-based medicine sections in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Her research interests include the evaluation of healthcare provider quality and efficiency performance, various aspects of workers' compensation, and the economics of physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Before joining HERC, Sinnott was a senior manager at the Pacific Business Group on Health in San Francisco, where she was the project manager for an initiative to measure and report physician quality and efficiency performance. While there, she coordinated the production of a report on the current practice in physician performance measurement in the commercial sector, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Prior to joining PBGH and prior to completing her doctoral program, she was the physical therapist council member of the State of California Industrial Medical Council, as well as a healthcare consultant and a practicing physical therapist.

She received a BS in physical therapy from UC-San Francisco, and received an MPH in Health Policy and Administration and a PhD in Health Services and Policy Analysis (emphasis in health economics), both from UC-Berkeley.
