2015 Workshop

The CSS workshop is a week-long series of seminars to teach social science graduate students the skills they need to handle large-scale data in their research. Topics that have been taught include Python, R, web scraping, data visualization, and machine learning. Classes are taught by fellow graduate students.

2015 Summer Workshop

Workshop Schedule:

Classes begin at 10 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. every day.

  • 9/10: Introduction to Python (location: IRiSS)
  • 9/11: Web Scraping (location: IRiSS)
  • 9/14 & 9/15: Introduction to R (2 day course) (location: Lathrop 299)
  • 9/16: Data visualization in R (location: Lathrop 299)

Cost:

$30 per day. Price includes lunch.
