Guest Speaker: Serge Gruzinski (CNRS, France) In 2008-2009, Serge Gruzinski organized an exhibition at the Quai de Branly Museum in Paris centered on the notion of “mixing,” whose aim was to stimulate visitors’ imagination by placing objects in relation to each other, from the 15th century until today and to analyze the ramifications of European expansion on other civilizations, as well as the crisscrossed influences of East and West in the wake of the great expansions. In his talk, he will examine the intersection between History and Art, the experience of a historian as a curator, as well as the role of Public History as a story teller.
