Visiting Clerkships
Stanford Medical School offers a maximum of three months of elective rotations to students who are currently enrolled in their fourth or final year MD program at a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association (for details, see "Eligibility Requirements" under the How to Apply section).
All visiting rotations are scheduled through the Office of Medical Student Affairs. Visiting students are scheduled during the time specified for each quarter because Stanford medical students have priority in taking these electives
Clerkships Requiring Pre-approval
Visiting students who wish to apply to any clerkship in the Department of Medicine (clerkships that start with MED) must fill out the Department of Medicine Application Form. Please email your completed form to Nancy D'Amico at ndamico@stanford.edu for pre-clearance before submitting your visiting clerkship application form and other supporting documents to the Clerkship Office.
Visiting students who wish to apply to any clerkship in the Department of Pediatrics should contact Gretchen Shawver at gshawver@stanford.edu for pre-clearance.
In addition, the following clerkships require prior approval from the clerkship directors. Please contact these departments for approval first before submitting your application to our office. Their contact information can be found in the clerkship descriptions listed in the school's Course Catalog
