A long-time resident of the Bay Area, Dr. Niazi studied electrical engineering and physics at the University of California, and worked as a technologist in IC manufacturing for many years. He subsequently attended Columbia University, where he received a Ph. D. in the history of science.  He has published his research on the astronomy of the Islamic world under the title "Qutb al-Din Shirazi and the Configuration of the Heavens, " (Springer 2014). Since graduating from Columbia University, he has taught Arabic, Persian and mathematics to secondary school and college students.  He currently teaches Arabic and Calculus at Online High School.
