Originally from Northern Illinois, Dr. Gonzales received his B.A. in History from Carleton College and his PhD in History from University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on questions of religion and empire in Spain during the Renaissance, and his academic interests include the history of early modern Europe and Latin America. While at UC Berkeley Dr. Gonzales taught courses on European History, the French Revolution, and Modern U.S. History. 

In his free time Dr. Gonzales enjoys traveling and thinking about history.
