Curriculum

The year is divided into seven rotations of 7-8 weeks each:

PGY-2

  • PM&R Clinics at Palo Alto VA (focus on MSK)
  • Polytrauma inpatient at Palo Alto VA
  • Spinal cord injury at Palo Alto VA
  • PM&R Clinics at Valley Medical Center  (focus on TBI and SCI)
  • Spinal cord injury at Valley Medical Center
  • Traumatic brain injury at Valley Medical Center

PGY-3

  • Sports Medicine at Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center
  • Spine Medicine at Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center
  • PM&R Clinics at Palo Alto VA (2-week elective time)
  • Spinal cord injury at Valley Medical Center
  • Inpatient consults at Valley Medical Center
  • PM&R Clinics at Valley Medical Center  (focus on TBI and SCI care)
  • Pediatrics at Kaiser Oakland/Santa Clara, Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital, and Subacute Saratoga Hospital

PGY-4

  • Inpatient consults at Stanford Hospital
  • Spine Medicine at Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center
  • Consults at Palo Alto VA (2-week elective time and research time)
  • Spinal cord injury at Palo Alto VA
  • Polytrauma at Palo Alto VA (with outpatient clinic experiences)
  • Inpatient rehabilitation at St. Mary's Hospital
  • EMG at Valley Medical Center
  •  

Resident Call

PGY2-3: about one weekend of in-home call per month

PGY4: about one weekend of in-home call every other month
