Fellowships for Postdoctoral Scholars

Postdoctoral Internal Fellowships and Travel Grants available through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs are:

These fellowships are widely advertised when the application is available.

The Dean's Postdoctoral Fellowships accepts applications in autumn and spring. The purpose of the Dean's fellowships is to encourage and support young investigators for the first one or two years of postdoctoral (PhD or MD) research training. Dean's postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to full-time scholars who are appointed in the School of Medicine and work in labs in the School of Medicine or PAVAMC

The Walter V. and Idun Berry Postdoctoral Fellowship Awardsaccepts applications in mid-July of each year. Applications are invited from postresidency or postdoctoral trainees in the clinical or basic medical sciences who wish to advance and expand understanding of children's health and disease as defined in the broadest sense. The Berrys had as their stated preference that the fellowships "be used to enhance research which utilizes the most advanced technologies and methodologies available to improve the health and wellness of children, including the latest opportunities in molecular and genetic medicine."

The Katherine McCormick Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowship is a new fellowship program for advanced postdoctoral scholars who are pursuing faculty careers in academic medicine.  The new pilot program aims to provide a bridge of the gap of support for advanced postdoctoral trainees who are competitive, yet have not yet been selected, for faculty positions.  The program is a two-year pilot that complements the School of Medicine’s postdoctoral funding mechanisms of support for postdoctoral preparation for faculty career tracks.

The Henzl-Gabor Postdoctoral Travel Grant accepts applications from currently appointed Postdoctoral Research Scholars with research and science activities in the areas of Human Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology or medicine and who have demonstrated a positive attitude through professional teamwork and collaborations of men and women.
