Trump: Mizzou protests are 'disgusting'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday blasted protests at the University of Missouri, which has been rocked by racial tension for weeks.

"I think it's disgusting," the real estate tycoon said during an interview on Fox Business.

"I think the two people that resigned are weak, ineffective people," Trump said. "I think that when they resigned, they set something in motion that's gonna be a disaster for the next long period of time."

University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe said Monday that he would resign amid mounting pressure from students and members of the school's football team over handling of racial issues.

R. Bowen Loftin, chancellor of the main campus in Columbia, also said Monday that he would step down at the end of the year and move into a research position.

"How we hire people like this ... Trump should have been the chancellor of that university. Believe me. There would be no resignation," Trump said Thursday.

Trump also knocked a list of demands from a group of student demonstrators, including increasing the number of black faculty and staff to 10 percent and implementing a "racial awareness and inclusion curriculum."

"Did you look at their demands? Their demands are, like, crazy," Trump said Thursday.

"So it is just disgraceful."
