    The DOJ OIG also performed an audit of the corresponding grant awarded to the city of Charlotte, NC for security during the Republican National Convention. That report was issued in September.

    We looked into how Milwaukee, WI used $16.8M in DOJ grant funds intended to provide security support for the Democratic National Convention in 2020. We found that the funds were used appropriately. Read the report here:

    We audited DOJ’s data for completeness, timeliness, accuracy, and quality and found they met the requirements of the DATA Act. We identified two areas for improvement in data quality.

    Freedom Network USA in Washington, D.C. received nearly $900K in DOJ grant funds to provide technical training to help service providers with their efforts to house victims of human trafficking. We found FNUSA met the grant’s goals, but we found some issues with accounting.

    Federal prisons’ security cameras are outdated, and these deficiencies impact the safety and security of the facilities. We’ve identified these concerns repeatedly since at least 2013. Today, we released a memo to the BOP Director with a recommendation to address these issues.
