In the name of not wasting visas, #USCIS processed visas for people who filed 485, up to 20 months after I filed and with priority dates up to 23 months after mine. Now retrogressed dates to 8 months before my priority date. USCIS honors neither priority date not filing date

I'd still suggest that parents/guardians of those kids apply for a Certificate of Citizenship (form N-600). Relying on a passport alone can be risky because if they ever need to submit DS-11, they'd be required to submit the proof of their parent(s) citizenship all over again.
