Using Your Cardinal Care Insurance

If you are covered by Cardinal Care, the university’s student health insurance plan, you may use the coverage to purchase your medication(s). Most prescriptions that are purchased using Cardinal Care will require a co-payment at the time of service. Under Cardinal Care, the 2015–16 co-payment is $15 for generics, $35 for brand-name drugs, and $50 for specialty drugs.

Generic contraceptives are available with no cost-share to the student (part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, PPACA). Under PPACA, brand-name contraceptives are available with no cost-share when there is no generic equivalent available. If a brand-name contraceptive is preferred and a generic is available, the difference in cost will be charged to the student (cost will be determined at time of service).

Non-Cardinal Care Insurance

Vaden's pharmacy does not bill third-party payors. If you have insurance coverage other than Cardinal Care, and wish to use the Vaden pharmacy, you will be charged the full cost of the prescription at the time of service and provided with a receipt. The receipt may be used to request reimbursement from your private insurance carrier. There are no guarantees that your private insurance will reimburse the cost of the prescription; however, in our experience, many do.

Accepted Payments

Vaden's pharmacy accepts cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard.
