The Wall Center's educational objective is to assist students and health care providers in becoming outstanding clinicians and researchers who will improve the health of children and adults afflicted with pulmonary vascular diseases.
Specifically, the Wall Center aims to:
- To teach students about pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) in a multi-disciplinary fashion
- To educate healthcare providers in the diagnosis, understanding, and treatment of adults and children with PVD
- To educate and empower patients and families afflicted by pulmonary vascular disease
- To educate the community and increase public awareness and understanding of PVD
The Wall Center has the ability to offer a truly cross-disciplinary educational experience for students as it brings together adult and pediatric pulmonologists and cardiologists as well as pediatric and adult cardiothoracic surgeons. Students are also exposed to collaborative efforts in both clinical and basic science research as well as between medicine and engineering. The growing size of the clinical program as well as the depth of expertise of the Center's faculty further enhance the educational opportunities available to Stanford students.
The VMWC welcomes inquires from students, residents, fellows, and clinicians interested in pursuing additional training in pulmonary hypertension. Interested parties are asked to submit a recent CV, brief statement of research interest, and availability to wallcenter@stanford.edu. The Wall Center is unable to offer salary support at this time and candidates are encouraged to pursue outside funding if desired.
