Shipping via FedEx Online at Stanford
Stanford offers PTA-associated FedEx.com accounts to staff for quick and easy online preparation of document and commodity shipments (both domestic and international), accurate accounting for shipping expenditures, and automatic invoice processing.
Note: For shipments involving dangerous goods, both the person(s) packing the material and the individual signing the shipping papers must be trained and certified before shipping.
Benefits of Using Fedex.com
Stanford's shipping program through FedEx.com provides:
- Easy comparison of shipping option rates, online address book maintenance, advance preparation of return-to-sender airbill, and ability to email a prepaid airbill link
- Direct billing to a PTA or an option to select from a specified list of PTAs
- Inclusion of shipment expenditures on the monthly Expenditure Statement
Creating a PTA-Associated Online FedEx Account
The first step to shipping via FedEx online at Stanford is to request a FedEx.com account. You may:
- Request creation of a FedEx.com account
- Add PTA(s) to your existing account
- Remove PTA(s) associated to your existing account
Access Stanford FedEx.com Account Management Application
Your request will be processed within 3 days.
- If you are requesting a new account, you will receive a Stanford login and password via email to use on the FedEx web site. You may change your password immediately after logging into your new account.
- If you are requesting to add or remove PTA(s) from your FedEx.com account, you will receive an email notifying you that the PTA(s) has been added to your FedEx.com account or that the PTA has been removed.
Shipping Dangerous Goods
If you ship dry ice, biological materials, hazardous chemical materials, compressed gases, environmental pollutants, noxious items, or any other regulated "Dangerous Goods" in any amount, Federal regulation and Stanford Policy (Admin Guide Policy 5.1.1 and 5.1.2) require that both the person(s) packing the material and the individual signing the shipping papers must be trained and recertified. If you infrequently ship "Dangerous Goods" (other than biological materials or dry ice), you can use the services of an EH&S-certified shipper to prepare and package your material and sign the shipping papers.
- Consult Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if you are unsure whether your material is a "Dangerous Good."

Stanford personnel are not allowed to ship any radioactive materials. If you need to ship radioactive materials, contact Health Physics:
