Business Improvement District (BID) Assessment

Business Improvement District (BID) Assessment

Did you receive an invoice for a BID Assessment? Wondering what the BID does?

The Business Improvement District in downtown is a yearly assessment paid by all businesses within the district.  Depending on the number of employees, location within the district, and type of business you are, your fee will vary.

The City of Palo Alto partners with MuniServices, LLC for assistance in the collection of its Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) fees. They can be reached with questions toll-free at (866) 240-3665 or support@muniservices.com.

Although the City administers the BID, it is managed by the Palo Alto Downtown Business and Professional Association (PADBPA), which is managed by an executive director and represented by a board of volunteers made up of downtown business leaders. Their meetings are regularly noticed and open to the public.

As part of the annual re-authorization process, the PADBPA is required to issue a report to the City outlining their proposed activities for the year.  The most current report can be found here.
