2015 Cyber Security Division Transition to Practice Technology Demonstration Day for the Financial Servies Sector – August 19, 2015 – New York City, NY - The technology demonstration featured 15 innovative cybersecurity technologies from Transition to Practice’s (TTP) 2014 and 2015 classes that have been developed at the Department of Energy and Department of Defense laboratories. During the technology demonstration, cybersecurity professionals from the financial sector learned about these new technologies through presentations, demonstrations, and discussions with the research teams that produced these technologies. In addition, attendees discussed pilot opportunities and areas of interest to drive further cybersecurity research.

2015 Cyber Security Division | Transition to Practice Technology Demonstration Day for Investors, Integrators, and IT Companies (I3) West – Spring 2015 – Silicon Valley, CA.,- The Transition to Practice (TTP) program focuses on moving promising cybersecurity technologies that were developed in federal laboratories into the private sector for further development into commercially viable products with potential for widespread distribution in the marketplace. This TTP event showcases nine innovative cybersecurity technologies developed by the Department of Energy and Department of Defense laboratories that have the potential to significantly strengthen an organization’s cybersecurity posture. Hear directly about these new technologies from the research teams that produced them. Join discussions with technology investors from private industry on piloting the technologies and other areas of interest for driving further cybersecurity research.

CSD Exhibited at 2015 RSA Conference – April 20 - 23, 2015 – Moscone Center | San Francisco, CA - CSD exhibited at the 2015 RSA Conference where we showcased 12 mature technologies ready for pilot deployments and/or commercialization into the marketplace.  We will be exhibiting at the 2016 RSA Conference in February 2016.   

2014 Cyber Security Division R&D Showcase and Technical Workshop - December 16-18 2014, Washington, DC –The R&D Showcase featured 11 innovative technologies selected from the Cyber Security Division (CSD) portfolio that addressed today’s complex cybersecurity challenges and had the potential for transition into the marketplace. The two-day R&D Technical Workshop created collaboration and knowledge sharing to improve existing deployed technologies and cultiave transition of innovative research to safeguard cyberspace. 2015 Government Cyber Security SBIR Workshop – January 13-15 2015, Washington, DC – The 2015 Government Cyber Security Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Workshop focused on maximizing technology transition opportunities for SBIR funded research. The workshop featured short presentations by funded small businesses describing their products and technologies, prime contractors identifying their programs and needs and government stakeholders describing their mission and requirements. DHS S&T Cyber Security Division Principal Investigators’ (PI) Meeting - September 16-18, 2013, Arlington, VA - The purpose of the 2013 PI meeting is to allow the CSD Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) 11-02 contract Principal Investigator (PIs) awardees, in the Type I (New Technologies) through Type III (Mature Technologies) phases, the opportunity to collaborate and present their research and technologies to researchers and cyber security leadership from the Government, International Partners, Private Sector and Academia; allowing additional knowledge sharing, improvement of existing deployed technologies and transition of innovative research to safeguard cyberspace.

IT Security Entrepreneurs’ Forum (ITSEF) Innovation Summit – August 6, 2013, Columbia University, New York, New York - The purpose of the Innovation Summit is to reinvigorate public private partnership efforts and increase relationships between industry, government and academia that fosters sharing of information and collaboration on mutual Cybersecurity research projects. Building communities of interest and trust are critical to advancing the security field and ultimately protecting our country's economic and national security interests. This summit is designed to provide a platform where industry, academic and government practitioners can share their hard problems and solutions with the research community and vice versa.

DHS-DOD Cyber Security SBIR Workshop – July 23-24, 2013, Washington, DC – The 2012 joint DHS Science & Technology Directorate and DOD Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (ASD) (R&E) Cyber Security Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Workshop focuses on maximizing technology transition opportunities for SBIR funded research. The workshop featured short presentations by small businesses describing their products and technologies, prime contractors identifying their programs and needs and government stakeholders describing their mission and requirements. Breakout sessions were held for one on-one discussions on partnering, tech transition, and business opportunities.

DHS S&T Cyber Security Division Principal Investigators’ (PI) Meeting – October 9-11, 2012, Washington, DC- CSD gathered its’ research performers of the 33 funded projects awarded under BAA 11-02, as well as their international co-funding partners, for a kickoff meeting where they discussed how all of the collective work being performed will come together over the lifespan of each project’s research, development and technology transition to significantly advance cybersecurity.

IT Security Entrepreneurs’ Forum (ITSEF) – Held annually since its start in 2007 – This Public Private Partnership initiative is designed to bridge the gap between IT security solution providers and the commercial and government end users of our Nation’s IT and Telecommunications critical infrastructures and national security command and control operating systems.

USSS Global Cybersecurity Conference – August 4-6, 2009. The Secret Service hosted its first Global Cyber Security Conference in Washington, D.C. More than 400 attendees heard from both domestic and international experts on the front lines of cyber security and cyber investigations. Secretary Napolitano delivered the keynote address for the inaugural conference, jointly hosted by the Secret Service and the DHS Science and Technology Directorate, as well as the CyberScience Laboratory. Designed to allow participants to network, as well as share information and best practices in combating cybercrime, approximately 50 speakers engaged in presentations and panel discussions over the course of the three-day event.

Cybersecurity Applications and Technology Conference for Homeland Security (CATCH) – March 3-4, 2009, Walter E. Washington Convention Center (Washington, DC). The security of the global information infrastructure is becoming more important every day. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate invests in projects offering the potential for revolutionary changes in technologies that promote homeland security and accelerate the prototyping and deployment of technologies that reduce homeland vulnerabilities. CATCH is a technical forum for DHS researchers to present their results in several topic areas of cyber security. The goal of CATCH is information exchange between researchers and information security practitioners across government and the private sector.

DHS S&T System Integrator Forum – February 21, 2008 – The goal of the DHS S&T System Integrator Forum is to introduce high-quality, top-performing research companies to large integrators of technology who serve the federal government and private industry. Each of the presenting technology developers have completed cyber security technology development projects funded under DHS Broad Agency Announcements (BAA) or Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) programs. They were selected for participation in the SI Forum based upon the maturity of their technology solution, relevance to government needs, the apparent commercial viability of their approach, and their business leadership. These technology solutions represent cutting-edge innovations with the potential to improve the security of the nation’s cyber-infrastructure, while also reducing the costs required to protect cyber assets from attacks.

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate and the Center organized the Cyber Security R&D Forum on September 20, 2005 at SRI International in Menlo Park, CA.

Cybersecurity Principal Investigator Value Creation Workshop

 Innovation is the primary means of growth, prosperity, and quality of life that creates abundance in an extremely competitive world by teams who are committed to creating a compelling value for their customers. SRI International’s unique course in Value Creation helps participants improve their skills in formulating and articulating a compelling value proposition to effectively engage integration and transition partners. The course is led by highly experienced workshop facilitators and innovation experts and includes an interactive discussion of the Five Disciplines of Innovation and increasingly detailed presentations by each participant in a Value Creation Forum—where each participant delivers a summary of his/her Value Proposition and receives structured critique and feedback.

Program objectives include coaching participants on how to:

• Recognize major innovation opportunities, while eliminating those that are merely interesting.
• Develop compelling value propositions for customers, partners, and the enterprise.
• Establish a disciplined process for rapidly evaluating and developing new innovations while minimizing risk.
• Collaborate more effectively with customers and colleagues to assemble the best teams.
• Identify and remove obstacles that inhibit innovation.
