Indoor airPLUS Leader Award Winners

The Indoor airPLUS Leader Awards were created to recognize and reward Indoor airPLUS Program partners who construct and verify Indoor airPLUS homes designed and built for improved indoor air quality. This annual award recognizes market leading organizations who promote safer, healthier and more comfortable indoor environments by participating with Indoor airPLUS and offering enhanced indoor air quality protections for their new homebuyers.

In 2014, the program introduced the first awards for the new builder category in addition to the Home Energy Raters that have previously been eligible. In 2015, additional attention has been paid to Corporate Builders with divisions that have begun committing to building Indoor airPLUS qualified homes. Builders in this category have served as catalysts for smaller builders partnering with the program, and Indoor airPLUS hopes to encourage additional participation from national builder partners.

Corporate Builder Winner

KB Home, Los Angeles, CA

KB Home KB Home is dedicated to expanding improved indoor air quality in many of the markets they serve. KB Home has capitalized on interactive web tools with their eDifference campaign to highlight indoor air quality, while making use of Indoor airPLUS logos and messaging in numerous marketing resources and collateral. KB Home has also integrated Indoor airPLUS messaging into their internal sales training courses with multiple divisions. KB Home is not only a Sustained Excellence winner for ENERGY STAR's Partner of the Year, but they are also the first national corporate builder to win EPA's Indoor airPLUS Leader Award.

Fulton Homes, Tempe, AZ

Fulton Homes Fulton Homes has taken advantage of Indoor airPLUS marketing material and messaging, placing Indoor airPLUS logos in their sales offices and using the Indoor airPLUS co-brandable consumer brochure to point out specific features for clients. This progressive Arizona builder has recently committed to building 100% of their homes to Indoor airPLUS and understands the importance of walking their consumers through the building process. Fulton Homes has shown that they are an Indoor airPLUS Leader in a strong ENERGY STAR market.

Mandalay Communities, Phoenix, AZ

Mandalay Communities Mandalay Communities, Inc. is an active and 100% committed Indoor airPLUS homebuilder. Building to many green and high performance home program specifications, including DOE's Zero Energy Ready Home Program, they showcase their commitment to improved indoor air quality by using Indoor airPLUS as a foundation for their standard building practices. Mandalay Communities, Inc. uses Indoor airPLUS regularly trains their sales staff and Customer Care team to communicate the benefits of improved indoor air quality through Indoor airPLUS. They are the first builder to receive both the DOE's Housing Innovation Award and the Indoor airPLUS Leader Award.

Schell Brothers, Rehoboth Beach, DE

Schell Brothers Schell Brothers reported the largest number of Indoor airPLUS qualified homes in 2014, showing a clear commitment to the Indoor airPLUS Program and to improving indoor air quality for consumers. Their extensive and aesthetically pleasing marketing resources prominently display the Indoor airPLUS logo and messaging. Utilizing advanced MERV 14 filtration with their HVAC systems, Schell Brothers is committed to offering homes with improved indoor air quality. They are also building a number of homes to the ICC-700 National Green Building Standard, showcasing the opportunity for builders to move toward green building practices with multiple nationally-recognized labels.

C&B Construction, Cottonwood, AZ

C&B Construction Having labeled 100% of their ENERGY STAR homes as Indoor airPLUS in 2014, C&B Construction is the first builder to win the Indoor airPLUS Leader Award two years in a row. They regularly communicate the benefits of Indoor airPLUS qualified homes to potential buyers and have spoken to community groups and at Realtor trainings about high performance building with Indoor airPLUS. C&B also regularly uses the Indoor airPLUS logo in their marketing collateral, displaying it on billboards, flyers, and in their model homes, as well as advertising their partnership in radio ads.

Charles Thomas Homes, Elkhorn, NE

Charles Thomas Homes Charles Thomas Homes is a committed Indoor airPLUS partner, actively marketing the program to homebuyers. Their extensive suite of marketing including yard signs, weekly newspaper ads, and the artwork on their company truck prominently displays the Indoor airPLUS logo and their commitment to building healthier homes. Their website also includes excellent video testimonials from homebuyers who, having children with asthma, have placed a high priority on indoor air quality. Charles Thomas Homes showcases Indoor airPLUS in their model home and uses the opportunity to show consumers behind-the-wall features and benefits because, as their motto states, "what you can't see matters."

Habitat for Humanity–St. Louis

Habitat for Humanity-St. Louis This affordable builder in Saint Louis, MO is a champion of Indoor airPLUS in their market, and 100% of their homes in 2014 were Indoor airPLUS qualified. Habitat for Humanity-Saint Louis regularly provides training to the volunteers and organizations that work on their homes, highlighting the benefits of improved indoor air quality associated with Indoor airPLUS. They also have presented at conferences and participated in webinars to showcase their participation in the Indoor airPLUS Program and to share best practices with other builders.

Kettler Forlines, Montgomery Village, MD

Kettler Forlines Kettler Forlines has been an Indoor airPLUS program champion for a number of years. Their extensive marketing material prominently displays the Indoor airPLUS logo, including road-front signage at their model home. They have also utilized the Indoor airPLUS co-brandable brochure for consumer collateral. Kettler Forlines understands the importance of how to message improved indoor air quality to their consumers and use the Indoor airPLUS checklist to walk consumers through benefits not easily visible in the home.

ASERusa, St. Louis, MO

ASERusa has been an Indoor airPLUS champion and a recurring Leader Award winner due to their ongoing education efforts and program participation. ASERusa strives to market the Indoor airPLUS label to architects whenever possible. They also do a great job educating their builder clients and promoting Indoor airPLUS as a valuable option to sell an indoor air quality label alongside other national green building programs. ASERusa has also coordinated well with affordable builders such as Habitat for Humanity-St. Louis to help make them one of the premier affordable builders among Habitat affiliates nationwide.

E3 Energy, LLC, Flagstaff, AZ

E3 Energy is a recurring Leader Award winner due to their continued strong participation and promotion of Indoor airPLUS. E3 Energy is passionate about educating their clients about the benefits of healthier indoor environments. They provide videos and various other resources for homeowners and sales agents to convey the benefits of building and purchasing an Indoor airPLUS qualified home. They continue to show a strong commitment to making Indoor airPLUS standard practice in their market.
