Mahmoud propels Louisville over Siena 86-60
Anas Mahmoud stuffed the stat sheet -- and stuffed Siena over and over and over -- with 17 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocked shots in a near-triple-double as Louisville used a big second half to put away Siena 86-60 on Wednesday night.
Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer
As an assistant, David Padgett turned Anas Mahmoud into a versatile big man with a motor. That's his protégé. And that's whom he should tag as the motivational leader this program needs. Proved he deserved the role in that second-half comeback.
Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer
OK, Louisville. The Cardinals are playing with more energy in the second half. Good sign for young coach David Padgett. The talent is not the issue. Can Padgett turn this group into a more cohesive and confident unit before ACC play? That's the question.
Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer
Dangerous situation for Louisville right now. The Cardinals have lost two in a row. Siena entered this game ranked 278th on KenPom.com with a 2-5 record and zero wins against a top-100 team. But the Saints have matched Louisville on both ends and secured 50 percent of their missed shots. This is where David Padgett has to prove he's a motivator.
Mike Couzens ESPN College Football
This balcony over Louisville's on-campus practice court connects to the head coach's office. While Rick Pitino would sometimes watch from upstairs, David Padgett says he likes to always be on the floor during practice, where he always was as an assistant. His Cardinals host Siena tonight at 7ET on ESPN2.
Seton Hall rallies to upset No. 17 Louisville 79-77
Desi Rodriguez had a season-high 29 points, including an off-balance bank shot with 8 seconds remaining, to rally Seton Hall to a 79-77 upset victory over No. 17 Louisville on Sunday.
Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer
Desi Rodriguez is a brutal matchup for most defenders. Seton Hall just gave him the ball at the top of the key and let him go to work. 29 points and the game-winner against Louisville.
Revisiting Big Ten/ACC Challenge picks, predictions
We predicted the ACC to win the Big Ten/ACC Challenge -- but it dominated even more than expected.
Pitino sues Louisville for breach of contract
Rick Pitino has sued the University of Louisville Athletic Association for $37.6 million, saying it breached his contract by placing him on unpaid administrative leave without notice and firing him last month with no legally justified cause.
Louisville is, no surprise, a work in progress
The Cardinals lost a hard-fought game at Purdue, but there are plenty of positives just two months removed from the news that shook the program.
Purdue uses size advantage to upend No. 17 Louisville 66-57
Vince Edwards scored 15 points and Carsen Edwards and Dakota Mathias spurred a late run Tuesday night to send Purdue past Louisville 66-57 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
John Gasaway ESPN Insider
Louisville and Purdue are coming down to the wire in West Lafayette. The Cardinals' V.J. King leads all scorers with 16, but Vincent Edwards has been big for the Boilermakers on a night when Matt Painter's team is just 4-of-21 from beyond the arc.
John Gasaway ESPN Insider
Louisville's playing its first true road game of the season at Purdue, and the Cardinals are getting a taste of what that might be like for a program that made offseason headlines for all the wrong reasons. Several members of the Boilermakers' Paint Crew student section are sporting t-shirts emblazoned with three very large initials: FBI.
State of the conferences: ACC
As the 2017-18 college basketball season gets underway, let's pause to consider the status of each major conference. Right now, the ACC looks strong.
