Apple To Take on Ticketing?
Apple iTicketingMashable - the Internet's most popular social media news website - is reporting that Patently Apple has uncovered some new patents filed by Steve Jobs and company... showing that he's applied for an “iTunes for Concert Tickets” system — or iTickets. The patents displays a complete e-ticket system whereby a user purchases a ticket via iTunes and then redeems the ticket using his or her iPhone at venues ranging from large rock concerts to sporting events.

World Cup Tickets nearly sold out - Over 130,000 World Cup tickets sold over the weekend
World Cup TicketsOver 140000 World Cup tickets were sold since the start of over-the-counter sales on Thursday, but sales remain slow for games outside major South African urban centres. "Some 75,000 of those were sold at FNB branches, some 25,000 at the ticketing centres and 30,000 via FIFA.com and Call Centres," FIFA said this week.

Free festival ticket giveaways and fake festival websites are just some of the ways scammers are using to infiltrate social networking and popular ticketing site, Facebook, according to vigilante website,Safeconcerts.They say that with thousands of disappointed fans unable to get tickets to Reading and Leeds, more and more Facebook groups are appearing, offering free tickets.

MySpace has announced the launch of a global events and calendar platform, MySpace Events, which will provide new tools to create, discover, share, and manage events across MySpace and multiple social networks. The move expands the social media site from a music publishing tool for artists to a platform which also allows them to sell more concert tickets and help organize and schedule events. Ultimate Fighting Championships UFC in Vancouver sells out in 30 minutes

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White announced via Twitter that pre-sale tickets for UFC 115 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada sold out in a mere 30 minutes. Premium members, the UFC Fight Club, got first go at tickets Tuesday morning and gobbled them up quickly, followed by regular fans trying to get access to the event scheduled for June 12th.

Soccer World Cup Hospitality Vendor Match Dumps 300,000 Bed Nights
World Cup 2010Match Services AG, part-owned by the nephew of FIFA President Sepp Blatter, which was awarded the primary World Cup hospitality contract worth up to €400 million euro,  has now had to dump 300,000 bed nights because of poor demand, Beeld reported today, citing an industry group.

British Bands Grounded By Volcanic Dust

Gary Numan, Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr are among the British musicians stranded in the UK following the volcanic erruption in Iceland, making it unlikely they’ll perform at California’s Coachella music festival. South Africans go Crazy for World Cup Tickets on First Day of Over the Counter Sales

Thousands of fans who queued overnight in South Africa finally got their hands on World Cup tickets, but scuffles broke out as computers crashed, the BBC's Johannesburg bureau reports.
