Hey there, Cardinal Fans!
My name is Jaquilyn Edwards, and I am a sophomore outfielder from Tustin, Calif.
This past weekend we played a tough series at the University of Oregon. Leaving the sunny summer skies of northern California, we found ourselves surrounded by the dark grey clouds and intermittent bursts of rain afforded by Eugene, Ore. Parkas in hand, we stepped off the airplane ready to face anything the weekend might have in store for us.
Sure enough, the rain persisted. On Friday night, after a two-hour weather delay, the Cardinal came out with the bats swinging and posted a 4-1 win over the Ducks. Unfortunately, despite many hard-fought innings, the next two games didn't follow suit. Nevertheless, the ever-resilient Cardinal looks forward to acquiring some wins this coming weekend in Tempe, Ariz., as we take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Cardinal is eager to accept the challenge of facing off against the No. 1-ranked Sun Devils. As we get closer to postseason, each game becomes an important and necessary learning experience that will help us grow as a team. Each game is a crucial stepping-stone that can enable us to achieve our ultimate goal: a journey to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
This weekend is going to be a fun one to watch! For those that can't watch in person, feel free to follow Stanford Softball on Twitter (@stanfordsball) or on GoStanford.com. The Cardinal sends out a big thank you to all of our supportive fans!
GO CARD!!!
