Pete begins his first year at Stanford after completing his undergraduate (B.S. English, Philosophy) and graduate (J.D. Wisconsin Law School) work at the University of Wisconsin.

For the past three years he has been a graduate assistant coach with the Wisconsin Crew team. Director of Rowing and Men's Head Coach Craig Amerkhanian said, "Pete will bring a new energy and a Midwestern approach to his daily work that will strengthen our nationally ranked team. With collegiate men's rowing being an unregulated sport without NCAA supervision, Pete will need all of his Wisco tools to influence Stanford's success against Pac-4 Universities".

Pete began his rowing career as a novice walk-on for the Badgers. As a three-year varsity letter-winner his teams won two gold and one silver medal at the Eastern Sprints, a silver and bronze medal (varsity 8) at the IRA, and 1st and 3rd place finishes at the Head of the Charles. Pete also competed on the US National team in two under-23 World Championships. In 2001, he finished 4th in the pair(Linz, Austria) and was part of the gold medal eight in 2002(Genoa, Italy).
