San Bernardino, California—Police officers conduct a manhunt for suspects later identified as Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. The married couple killed 14 people and wounded 21 on December 2 when they opened fire at a holiday party in a social services agency in an attack that appears to have been inspired by the Islamic State militant group. The two were later killed in a shootout with police. President Barack Obama said the attack by the U.S.-born Farook and his Pakistani wife showed that “the terrorist threat has evolved into a new phase,” as ISIS uses the Internet to influence potential attackers. slideshow
