The Cold War has been over for 25 years and, since then, the world has changed dramatically. But the United States and Russia still have vast arsenals of missiles, tipped with nuclear warheads, which are kept ready to launch and pointed at enemies that no longer exist, raising the risk of a serious catastrophe.

It’s time to bring our national security policies in line with the 21st century. UCS is pressuring President Obama to make good on his 2009 pledge to seek a world free of nuclear weapons—and the most important step to make us safer today is to take U.S. weapons off hair-trigger alert. Here’s how you can help!
