The chances of a driver dying in a crash in a late-model car or light truck fell by more than a third over three years, and nine car models had zero deaths per million registered vehicles, according to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

What do you wish you would have majored in? What did you actually major in? I always knew I wanted to be a SAHM. I majored in something fun, or at least I thought it was fun. (Philosophy.) May I ask what changed your mind after the baby was born that made you want to SAH that you didn't think of before the baby was born? And I think your story is honest and not a CSB

I double majored in computer and electrical engineering. If it wasn't for profitability sake I would've majored in art history or something similar. I don't know what about my baby when he was born that made me change my mind about bein a sahm. I just felt that I needed more time at home, and to be honest the sleep deprivation might of swayed that decision as well. It was nice to be home for subsequent pregnancies as well and not to worry about falling asleep at 2pm meetings lol.

np - this just doesn't make sense to me. what if your marriage fails or your dh dies suddenly? always best to have all options available to us for a profitable, successful and interesting career where we can actually get a job. If I had dd's I would stress this.

There are a lot of people who feel this way, but I don't think it should change what you want to do previously. Life is unpredictable and there is not always the "choice" to follow changed circumstances.

In all of Africa? In all 55 countries? Plus Europe? A Black American is comparing his life to a White American, not a Black African. An Asian American is comparing his life to a White American, not to an Asians in Asia.

analyst here...a long time ago me and my friends came up with the wedding-cost-vs-how-long-will-your-marriage-last formula. it's 50000 divided by the amount you spent on your wedding. if you spent $20000, your marriage will last 2.5 years. if you spent $2000 your marriage will last 25 years. among most people i know, the more you spend the shorter you last. and i say this as a twice-divorced person whose parents paid for two lavish weddings. no sour grapes here but i think people who spend so much on a big stupid party don't have the right mind set for maintaining a long-term marriage.

Or maybe they come from a wealthy family and have rich parents and aren't spendinng anything on the wedding since the parents are paying for it, as is tradition. Ever thought of that?

Good academic reputation. But it is seen as the money school of Brooklyn and cut throat -- so fine if you are into this type of thing and you have a high achieving child. Otherwise the pressure will get to him/her.

This is by reputation mind you so take it with a grain of thought, but Packer is known as a school that very actively goes after people with money, i.e. about 7 years ago it began a large campaign to increase the students that go there from Manhattan since there is more money there than in Brooklyn.

My very wealthy DF sends her kids there. Husband is a managing director at an IB. It seems very nice, but everything her older child is doing seems EXACTLY the same as what my child is doing at a nice gen-ed. I'm not clear why it's worth spending all that money, but I guess they don't know what else to do with all their money.

Sound academics, very traditional, pretty social. Run of the mill UMC kids, decent but not spectacular college admissions. Not so hot on diversity. I've never been sure why it has the rep for the "rigorous academics."
