VIctor Fugate
Three years ago, right after Victor and his wife had their first child, Victor found himself unemployed. Living in Kansas City, Missouri, he fought hard to educate himself and find a new job helping others. His experience and his newfound employment inspired him to write to the President: “I wanted to thank you for focusing on the economy, health care, and especially student loans. Without the Income Based Repayment Plan, I wouldn’t be able to afford my student loans and my wife’s student loans.” He credits the program with the flexibility that allowed him to complete his education.
Victor spends his days as a health care worker, he sees firsthand how the Affordable Care Act is helping people’s lives, including his own. After he was laid off, he was able to find health care on the exchange. “As a Christian and a health care worker, people automatically assume that we can only be Republicans,” he wrote. “I believe, regardless of the political party, we can all do something to help our citizens to have a chance at a job, have food in their stomachs, and to have access to great education/health care.”
