Claire Halleux

Technical Advisor

Bio

Claire is the Technical Advisor for the Forest Program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She works with the Congo Basin Forest Atlases and oversees the implementation of land use planning tools, supporting data information system and managing collaborative partnerships with government and local civil society.

Working and living in the DRC for the last 6 years, her focus has been on geospatial data collection, analysis and decision support tools. Prior to joining WRI, Claire worked for the Central African Forest Observatory (OFAC) and on a few other environmental projects, while she had initially been using GIS to support humanitarian organizations such as the UNWFP, MSB and MSF, among others, in responding to crisis in Central Africa and in the Greater Middle East.

Claire holds a Msc. Degree in Environmental engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL).

In her free time, Claire enjoys experiencing the Congolese art scene with her child and contributing to OpenStreetMap.
