Project Associate, Climate Resilience

Bio

Namrata is a Project Associate with the Climate Resilience Practice. She works on adaptation to climate change in India. Her responsibilities include strategic partnership building, project coordination, and knowledge management. Her major projects have focused on scaling up good adaptation practices, understanding dynamic changes in India’s peri‐urban regions, and building capacity and resilience in the context of urbanization and climate change. She has contributed to the Scaling Success report and related blog posts.

Prior to joining WRI, Namrata worked on intersections between climate change and sanitation. She has conducted research on sanitation infrastructure from the perspective of greenhouse gas mitigation and climate resilience, as well as on integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation into environmental impact assessments. Additionally, she has worked on designing effective climate change communication.

Namrata holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) in Ahmedabad, India. At CEPT her research covered livelihood vulnerability assessments for coastal villages in Gujarat, India, a city-wide assessment of vulnerability to climate change for Ahmedabad, India, and strategies for low-carbon development in the city of Bangkok, Thailand.

Namrata is a painter and an avid reader. Her other passions include traveling and household terrace farming.
