Associate Urban Transport Planner

Bio

Seth is an Associate for the Health and Road Safety program with the Sustainable Cities program. He oversees the Bloomberg Philanthropies “Lives Saved” global initiative that aims at improving roadway safety in developing countries through investments in sustainable transport, innovative engineering design applications and robust policy programs.

Prior to joining WRI, Seth worked for a diverse number of agencies, including the Port of Long Beach, the Natural Resources Defense Council and WRI's Mexico City office where he analyzed the dual-effects of the built environment on both household travel behavior and energy consumption.

Seth’s educational background includes a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic Pomona, a Master’s degree from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Transportation Systems Engineering from the University of California at Irvine. His dissertation involved the creation of a new methodology for calculating air quality conditions near roadways in Southern California and the associated population exposure to harmful tailpipe pollutants.

Along with having performed at the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C., Seth danced professionally in Mexico City in 2014 with Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez at the historic Palacio de Bellas Artes theatre.
