Stanford Habitat Conservation Plan
Project Description
The Stanford habitat conservation plan (HCP) is designed to benefit federally protected species, such as the California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander and steelhead, and the ecosystems upon which they depend. The primary goals of the plan are to increase the populations of these species and enhance their habitats on Stanford land. These activities will ultimately benefit local species that share habitat with federally protected species. A planning process is underway to develop an integrated HCP for Stanford. Guidelines and policies will be established to protect and enhance native biodiversity on Stanford lands, while also permitting on-going operations and a reasonable amount of development. Stanford is working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA Fisheries) to prepare a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP).
