Stanford in Redwood City

Project Description

The Stanford in Redwood City Campus represents the University’s first significant expansion effort outside of the main Stanford campus. Stanford in Redwood City is an important step in meeting the University’s need to maintain its preeminence and excellence in higher education and related research in the 21st century. The principal objective of Stanford in Redwood City is to create a satellite campus that will accommodate academic and non-academic users for whom a location on the main Stanford campus is not essential. The long-range plan is to construct new buildings that will operate cohesively as a contemporary campus integrated into the Redwood City community. Working in coordination with Redwood City, the plan will design the campus with sufficient flexibility to allow academic, office, R & D, and medical uses. The project will emphasize attractive design through sustainable land use components and building features including those affecting transportation, energy, water and air quality. Creating a sense of place with a variety of outdoor open spaces will also be a key priority, as will integrating the campus into the neighboring community.
