Current Stanford graduate students in other departments may apply for admission to any of our degree programs, either for an additional degree or to transfer from their current department.
Please submit your completed application directly to the Bioengineering Student Service Office in Shriram Center, Room 119 by December 2, 2014.
You should include the following:
- Transfer Application Form (Word)
- Transfer essay
- Two letters of recommendation (PDF), from your advisor or other Stanford faculty members. This requirement does not apply if your application is being reviewed during your first quarter at Stanford.
- Graduate Authorization Petition. This form will need to be submitted electronically via Axess from the “Petitions and Forms” option in the Axess drop-down menu. We recommend that you do not submit the online Graduate Authorization Petition until after we have completed our review. You will be charged a $125 application fee for any submission of an online Graduate Authorization Petition, regardless of the decision.
After receipt of the above, we will request a copy of your application file from your current department, which includes transcripts and recommendation letters from your original application at Stanford.
Decisions will be made by the end of April. In most cases, we need to review the whole application pool to determine the top applicants.
