Colloquium: Baskar Ganapathysubramanian

Monday, December 7, 2015 - 3:45pm to 5:00pm
Shriram 104

Professor Baskar Ganapathysubramanian

Iowa State University

Research Group Interests

Our interests are in the areas ofcomputational mechanics, physics and scientific computing. We leverage advances in applied mathematics and high-performance computing to model, design and control real-world physical phenomena.

From the application point-of-view, we are particularly interested in energy and environment related phenomena like green building technology, solar energy conversion systems and wind energy. We develop mathematical techniques and computational tools — model reduction, multiscale frameworks, multiphysics simulators , control algorithms, data-driven methods — to efficiently model these systems. Whenever possible, we validate our techniques using the expertise of our experimental collaborators.

Refreshments at 3:45 PM in lobby of Shriram 104
