Why support Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies?

Support from alumni and friends helps ensure our continued leadership in the field of Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies. Gifts in support of our programs enhance genuine understanding of the languages, literatures, religions, histories, and cultures of the region.

Gifts to CREEES are tax-deductible under applicable rules. As a unit of Stanford University, CREEES qualifies for tax-exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3).
 

What will my gift support?

Gifts may be directed toward one of the endowments below, or may be designated for specific projects such as faculty and student research; the MA degree program; overseas study, research, or internships/fellowships; conferences, workshops, and public lectures; to simply to the CREEES general fund.

Alexander Dallin Lecture Fund

Supports the annual lecture series in Soviet/Post-Soviet Affairs developed and endowed by Alexander Dallin, and now named for him.
Konstanty & Antonina Stys Fund for Polish Studies

Supports teaching, research, and outreach activities connected with Polish history, language, and literature.
Mara Tomashevich Karabas Fund for Serbian Language & Culture

Supports lectures, seminars, and conferences on Serbian culture, language, and literature.
Steve P. Rados Fund for Eastern European Studies

Supports activities specific to Eastern Europe.
Ukrainian Studies Fund

Administers the Ukrainian Studies lecture series.
Wayne & Sara Stys Vucinich Fund for Slavic Studies

Provides generalized support for all Center activities, including teaching, fellowships, conferences and public events, library resources, and graduate and faculty travel research support.

 

A Tradition of Giving

Over the years, the center has been fortunate to receive institutional funding from philanthropic organizations (including the Ford and Mellon Foundations), and from the U.S. Department of Education. From the beginning, the Center has been loyally supported by gifts from private donors. Substantial endowment funds have enabled us to flourish, particularly in the areas of public outreach, student scholarships, and research support. The Center relies on such private gifts to expand our academic and outreach activities and respond to new programming opportunities.
