Career Development
The department offers a variety of training opportunities to employees, including academic programs, leader development, career development, mandatory training, professional development and technical skills training. DHS employees should visit their learning and development program office for more information about any opportunities listed below.
Employee Awards and Recognition
DHS achievements are the result of the collective effort of dedicated DHS employees. The DHS Secretary's Awards Program celebrates excellence across the Department.
Annual Employee Survey
The Department of Homeland Security Annual Employee Surveys (AES) are conducted to collect data on Department employees' perceptions of workforce management, organizational accomplishments, agency goals, leadership, and communication.
Employee Assistance

Hiring Reform at DHS
President Obama directed agencies to improve the Federal hiring process. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) also outlined actions for agencies to implement related initiatives.
