Directions

Driving from Highway 101

  • Exit University Avenue heading west
  • Continue on University Avenue for about three miles through residential areas, the downtown Palo Alto business district, and under the commuter train tracks
  • As you cross El Camino Real and enter the Stanford campus, University Avenue will become Palm Drive
  • Follow Palm Drive until you reach The Oval at the end of the street. Metered parking is available along The Oval in areas marked "P". No permit is required after 4:00 p.m.
Walking to the Graduate School of Education Building from the Oval:
  • Turn left on Serra
  • Turn right on Lasuen Mall
  • The Graduate School of Education Building (also known as Cubberley) is located at 485 Lasuen Mall.
  • Cubberley Auditorium, located inside the Graduate School of Education Building, is often confused with another venue, the Cubberley Community Center in Palo Alto. Please note the difference between the two locations. 
Walking to CERAS (Center for Educational Research at Stanford) Building from the Oval:
  • Turn left on Serra
  • Turn right on Lasuen Mall
  • Turn left on Escondido when you reach the clock tower.
  • Veer right and pass Meyer Library on your left. You will see the CERAS Building ahead of you to the right of Sweet Hall.
  • CERAS is located at 520 Galvez Mall.

Driving from Highway 280

  • Exit Page Mill Road East towards Palo Alto
  • Turn left on Junipero Serra
  • Turn right on Campus Drive East
  • Turn left on Bowdoin St.
  • Turn left on Wilbur Way.
  • Turn right in to the parking structure.
  • Travel down to visitor parking (right lane)
  • Pay at pay machine station
Walking to the Graduate School of Education Building from the Parking Structure 6:
  • Enter elevator on north side of parking structure(next to pay machine station) and go to street level.
  • Turn right out of the elevator
  • Right at the street (Arguello Mall).
  • Go to stop sign (Bowdoin) and turn left
  • Walk down to the end of the street (Galvez Mall)
  • Cross street continue to walk to walk straight.
  • Pass Meyer library on your right.
  • Turn right on Lasuen Mall. You will see the clock tower on your left.

Parking Information

Parking is limited on the Stanford campus. Everyone who parks on campus on weekdays between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. must display a valid parking permit in their car or feed the coin meters. Coin-metered spaces are $1.50 per hour. Many lots also have permit vending machine that accept cash and credit cards. Stanford Parking and Transportation Services also sells one-day parking "scratchers" for visitors. The parking closest to GSE includes the visitor lot at Tresidder Union and Parking Structure 6, which is located below Wilbur Field near the intersection of Bowdoin St. and Campus Dr. East. Metered parking is available along the Oval off of Palm Drive in areas marked "P".
