GSACtivities
Every year in the weekend before fall quarter begins, GSAC hosts an overnight camping trip in a nearby state or national park for all new students and mentors. GSAC covers the costs of the campsites, food, transport, and activities for all invited attendees, and students arrive for a day in the great outdoors – full of hiking, softball, food, and getting to know your fellow new graduate students and mentors. The folks that attended the Fall Overnight for 2014 enjoyed the amazing Big Basin Redwoods State park and the 2013 group enjoyed the Pinnacles national park.
Every quarter each department within SES host a Townhall meeting that is informal and open to all graduate students within each department. Each Townhall is led by a GSAC member, who voices concerns, questions and ideas provided by graduate students prior to the Townhall and provides an opportunity for attendees to present their ideas, or concerns as well on the current state of the department, e.g. procedures, classes, events, faculty or staff.
