In the 1980s and 90s I did quite enough for our rights. Please do not lecture me.
Every government has a duty to its citizens to develop the information to keep us sage. No government has the authority to spy on its own citizens. To do that is tyranny. It does not matter which person or party is in charge. Here in the U.S. both parties pay lip service to our constitutional rights but when they get power they do whatever it takes to keep that power. President Obama is no better or worse than any other human in this respect.

I'm torn on my opinion of this. I despise Hollywood with a passion, because it's frivolous junk on the one hand, and mostly right-wing propaganda on the other, but this film may be one of the rare exceptions.

And, true to Hollywood, it's a stylised version of events, only the rough draft of which was approved by Assange, but the message is nonetheless an important one.

As for whether or not it makes money, that's irrelevant. Money is just a tool, a means to an end, and in this case at least one of those ends is the dissemination of an important message. The fact that some Hollywood fat-cat also makes money from it is inconsequential and unavoidable.
