Graduate Courses for Academic Credit
- Each course is delivered online, according to Stanford’s quarterly academic schedule.
- Every unit of credit represents 1 hour of class time plus approximately 2 additional hours of work per week for the average student. A 3-unit course, for example, requires a minimum time commitment of 9 hours per week.
Graduate Certificates
- Complete the 3-5 courses required for your certificate in 3 years or less.
- Most certificates can be earned within 1 to 2 years.
- Courses are delivered online, according to Stanford's quarterly academic schedule.
Master's Degrees
- Complete 45 quarter units of master's degree study in 5 years or less.
- Most part-time students take an average of 3 years to complete.
- Up to 18 units of Stanford academic credit earned prior to admission to a degree program may be applicable toward your degree.
- Your 5-year time limit starts only when you take your first course as a degree candidate.
