Gold King Mine Emergency
EPA's Emergency Response to the August 2015 Gold King Mine Spill: During an excavation, pressurized water began leaking above the mine tunnel, spilling about three million gallons of contaminated water into Cement Creek, a tributary of the Animas River. EPA has activated its Emergency Operations Center, and is working closely with local and state officials to ensure the safety of affected citizens.
