    Last night, featured directly-impacted people explaining the inequities in our parole and probation systems, & this morning, the DAs of Manhattan, Brooklyn and the BX released an op-ed citing exactly this and calling for statewide changes. 🙌🏽

    Crowded and unsanitary conditions of our jails and prisons, lack of adequate medical care, high-risk health factors, prolonged incarceration of people who haven’t been convicted of a crime, or have long since served their time created a perfect storm when -19 pandemic hit.

    We are trying to create legislation in NC to prevent officers fired/resigning prior to an investigation from being hired by any law enforcement agency in the state. We should be doing this everywhere. This is only one of many ways we can try to keep them held accountable.

    “You’re not exactly sending the message not to do this again...” The Civilian Complaint Review Board is supposed to be an indep accountability body for NYPD misconduct. Turns out the NYPD doesn’t listen to them in the vast majority of misconduct cases.
