Assembly lines have a long history of usage on a variety of plants and factories all around the developed world. The invention of assembly line gave the start to all kinds of new business ventures and drastically changed the economic picture of the world as business owners now had the power to manufacture goods without employing too many simple laborers. Contrary to popular belief, Henry Ford was not the original inventor of assembly line, nor the first one who implemented it in automobile manufacture. The genius behind the invention of assembly line was automobile mogul Ransom Eli Olds. He was the man behind the idea to structure all working processes in a logical line. Before that all car parts were made in different rooms or even buildings and motor had to be constructed by manual workers who then had to take it to different plant building to install it into the car. With the implementation of assembly line 1902 Ransom Eli Olds quadrupled the manufacture of cars on his plants! While no one doubts his genius, Henry Ford brought one critical idea that many associate with assembly lines today: he added moving conveyor. Thus Henry Ford entered the history as the father of assembly line, while Ransom Eli Olds will always be remembered as the man who brought mass production to Detroit and established city’s status in automobile industry. But all of this was long ago, now all automobile giants can use the benefits of assembly lines in automatic vehicle production. Companies like Mercedes Benz, bmw, Porsche, Bentley, Land Rover, Jeep, Smart, Mclaren, Ford, Chrysler, MINI, volvo, audi, Nissan, SKODA, Rolls Royce, Chevrolet use the ideas which were implemented and perfected more than century ago by two men whose entrepreneurial genius shaped the worlds we know today.
