hometown: Seattle, Washington

Maia is an Art Practice major who is currently working on an honors exhibition which will open in Spring 2016. Their favorite forms of art practice are painting and sculpture. Academically, Maia is also really interested in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CSRE) and Feminist Studies. They enjoy being at IDA because IDA combines their interest in making art and social justice, as well as being a safe space where they can always count on seeing their  friends. Some artists that Maia have drawn inspiration from are Mark Bradford, Wangechi Mutu, Adrian Piper, Yoko Ono, El Anatsui, Jigger Cruz, and Bernice Bing.
