About the Job Fair

The Stanford University Opportunity Job Fair (OJF) is an annual event that brings recruiting corporations, government agencies and other institutions together with job-seeking Stanford students majoring in engineering, science and mathematics.
 

The OJF is sponsored by the School of Engineering. It is co-organized by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), the Society of Black Scientists and Engineers (SBSE), the Stanford Society of Latino Engineers (SOLE), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) on behalf of all Stanford students. Stanford seeks to promote diversification of the U.S. economy in industry, government, non profits and education.

The Fair averages over 125 companies and gathers a combined 1500 undergraduate and graduate students.

Purpose

The purpose of this Opportunity Job Fair (OJF) is to provide companies with a large number of qualified, technical employee candidates and to provide our students with employment opportunities. We believe that the OJF is a unique event where companies can meet and interact with a substantial group of outstanding Stanford engineering, math, and science students.

Objectives

• To identify and encourage participation of corporate sponsors
• To create student management opportunities for SWE, SBSE, AISES and SOLE members through planning the job fair
• To create corporate access to a diverse pool of interns and permanent hires, especially targeted underrepresented minorities, women, LGBT students, first-generation and low-income students
• To place Stanford students in scholarship/fellowship programs, internships, co-ops, and permanent positions in industry
• To develop ongoing relationships between Stanford faculty/staff/students and corporations
• To expose faculty and staff to student organization members and their academic and professional needs
• To create a funding base for the Engineering Diversity Programs (EDP) and the four diversity student societies
• To use cost-effective administration strategies
• To evaluate based on student, corporate, and management input
• To evaluate placement results

The OJF event and reception is produced by a committee of volunteers from four engineering student societies:

• The Stanford Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Dr. Noé Pablo Lozano, Associate Dean for Engineering Student Affairs and Director of Engineering Diversity Programs, serves as faculty advisor. Administrative staff for the Fair is based in the School of Engineering Office of Student Affairs.
