Cincinnati and Florida will head into Saturday's "showdown" losing a combined three in a row. Florida drops one at home to Loyola-Chicago.

After a battle against Duke in the PK80, many thought Florida was a top-3 team. Now they're a squad that's lost three in a row, including a surprising home loss to Loyola-Chicago. Florida must regroup.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Florida entered this game against Loyola-Chicago shooting 43 percent from the 3-point line, a top-15 mark. Started 2 for 14 from the 3-point line tonight. Struggling against the Ramblers. Living and now trying survive with the 3-ball.

As an assistant, David Padgett turned Anas Mahmoud into a versatile big man with a motor. That's his protégé. And that's whom he should tag as the motivational leader this program needs. Proved he deserved the role in that second-half comeback.

That's a good win for Temple and Fran Dunphy, who could make some noise in the American race this season. Shizz Alston Jr. and Co. outplayed a Badgers team that missed an opportunity to steal a solid road win, a win the Badgers needed.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

OK, Louisville. The Cardinals are playing with more energy in the second half. Good sign for young coach David Padgett. The talent is not the issue. Can Padgett turn this group into a more cohesive and confident unit before ACC play? That's the question.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Can't overstate the significance of this game for Wisconsin (No. 6 in strength of schedule, per BPI), which has a resume that's featured impressive challenges but no impressive wins. A road win at a top-50ish Temple would help. If the Badgers lose, they'll be searching for every meaningful win in a lukewarm Big Ten. No real test until their road game at Purdue on Jan. 16.

I disagree with the Flagrant 1 that was called on Brevin Pritzl for an inadvertent elbow against Josh Brown in this Temple-Wisconsin game. Yes, he hit him with an elbow but no malice. Just a guy trying to get around a defender. Pivotal call. Not sure this crew got it right.

Dangerous situation for Louisville right now. The Cardinals have lost two in a row. Siena entered this game ranked 278th on KenPom.com with a 2-5 record and zero wins against a top-100 team. But the Saints have matched Louisville on both ends and secured 50 percent of their missed shots. This is where David Padgett has to prove he's a motivator.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby: "All the best parts of college athletics and all the worst parts of college athletics are imbedded into college basketball."

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott on the FBI investigation into alleged college basketball corruption: "Some of this activity is a wake-up call for anyone who cares about college sports. It has raised the ante. ... What stronger signal do you need that the system cannot continue the way it is?"

UCLA has canceled its men's basketball game tonight against Montana as a result of fires in the area. "The health and safety of student-athletes, staff and fans is our top priority," the school said in a statement.

NCAA president Mark Emmert on trying to increase hiring of women and minorities in coaching and leadership positions: "We can't [legally] put in place a Rooney rule. You can't mandate that any one school do any one thing. ... You continue to educate and develop and support women and minorities moving up through the ranks."

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

Mark Emmert says the NCAA board will explore possibly hosting NCAA events in the state of Nevada. The NCAA currently prohibits having events in a state where sports gambling is legal.

Paul Sabin ESPN Analytics

West Virginia is averaging 75 possessions per game, 12th fastest among major conference teams. Virginia averages 62 per game, the slowest pace in the country. WVU played at UVA's pace last night (62 possessions) and still won by 7.

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

NCAA president Mark Emmert on the FBI probe into college basketball: "Everybody in the college sports arena is disgusted. They're embarrassed. They are committed to doing something seriously different in a lot of key areas." Five key areas he lists: NBA, shoe companies, agents, summer basketball/AAU and NCAA's role in enforcing accountability.

Darren Rovell ESPN Senior Writer

NCAA president Mark Emmert: "The shoe companies are some of the most creative marketeers in the world. I gotta believe they can do this without bribing people to do it."
